Parish councils are funded by a small part of the Council Tax known as the parish precept, which is assessed annually. Each parish council forecasts how much money it is going to need the following year. The forecast is divided by the number of properties in the parish that fall into Band D of the Council Tax bands. The figure is adjusted to take account of such things as, exempt properties and planned new houses, to get the precept each Council Tax payer in the parish will contribute.

In 2021 Rollright Parish Council received a precept of £12,006.

This money is used to fund such things as the Clerk’s salary, grass cutting in the playground and churchyard, playground maintenance and other miscellaneous items.

The Clerk keeps the accounts and these are audited annually by auditors recommended by the District Council.
